Why do small bathrooms cost so much per square foot?
Every trade has to work in the same tiny room in sequence, and the fixed costs — permits, waterproofing, a shower valve, a vanity, a toilet — do not shrink with the room. A 40-square-foot bathroom and a 70-square-foot bathroom often differ by only a few thousand dollars in total.
How long will I be without the bathroom?
Plan on the full on-site duration, typically three to six weeks. Cure times for mortar, waterproofing, and grout are not compressible, and shower glass usually arrives a week or two after tile is finished.
